Week 4 – Memoirs of a Goldfish
Look at the book cover of “Memoirs of s Goldfish” by Devin Scillian. You will naturally start thinking of questions like: “I wonder why the goldfish looks unhappy?” Think of some more I wonders.
Now listen and read the book.
After reading the story, I want you to think about the order or sequence of the story. The story was told like reading a diary. A diary is a book in which one keeps a daily record of events and experiences.
Now think of an animal you may like. This story was written from the perspective of a goldfish. In this story, perspective means a particular attitude toward or way of regarding (thinking of) something; a point of view.
Using the idea of writing a diary and an animal’s perspective or thoughts, I want you to write a diary about an animal of your choice.
Some animals you might want to write about could be:
House pets – cat, dog, puppy, kitten, hamster, gerbil
Farm animals – pig, sheep, goat, cow, chicken
Zoo animals – lion, cougar, panda, giraffe
Think about what their environment might be like. In this story there was overcrowding, pollution, too hot. You could use one of these problems to help guide your diary and tell the reader what your animal is thinking about the problem.
Have fun an please share if you can. Your ideas are better than mine and make me smile!
Thank you for writing.
